With the 2025 Formula 1 season just a month away and all teams confirming their driver lineups, it’s time to break down the 2025 F1 grid and see how they stack up against each other.

1. McLaren – Oscar Piastri (AUS) & Lando Norris (UK)

The 2024 Constructors’ Championship winners have a dynamic duo in Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, both young, fast, and multiple Grand Prix winners. They are hungry for a Drivers’ Championship and have the tools to succeed in 2025. The key question is whether they have learned from their 2024 mistakes. Both showcased exceptional speed with a competitive car, and with a title fight now under their belt, they enter 2025 as strong contenders.

2. Red Bull – Max Verstappen (NL) & Liam Lawson (NZ)

Red Bull has dominated in recent years, securing four consecutive Drivers’ Championships and two Constructors’ titles. Max Verstappen remains the best driver on the grid, but questions remain about whether the car can maintain its edge.

Liam Lawson, after waiting for his shot at Red Bull, finally gets his chance and will be eager to prove himself as a Grand Prix winner. However, Red Bull struggled in late 2024, underwent a driver change, and lost key personnel, including Adrian Newey. The 2025 season will be a challenge, but never count out Verstappen and Red Bull.

3. Ferrari – Charles Leclerc (MC) & Lewis Hamilton (UK)

Ferrari has assembled one of the most exciting driver pairings in years, combining Lewis Hamilton’s experience with Charles Leclerc’s raw speed. Expectations are high, but Ferrari’s success will depend on car reliability and Hamilton’s adaptation to his new team. If they deliver a competitive package, they will be championship contenders.

4. Mercedes – George Russell (UK) & Kimi Antonelli (ITA)

Mercedes has an intriguing lineup with multiple Grand Prix winner George Russell and rising star Kimi Antonelli, who boasts an impressive junior career. While they might not be the strongest challengers compared to Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren, Mercedes remains a threat. Expect them to snatch a few wins throughout the season.

5. Aston Martin – Fernando Alonso (ESP) & Lance Stroll (CA)

Fernando Alonso continues to be the driving force behind Aston Martin. Despite an impressive start with the team in 2023, results have been inconsistent. The addition of Adrian Newey is a major boost, but Aston Martin has work to do. For now, they look set to be the strongest midfield team.

6. Williams – Carlos Sainz (ESP) & Alex Albon (THA)

Williams has secured a formidable driver lineup by signing Carlos Sainz on a multi-year deal. Team Principal James Vowles convinced Sainz of Williams’ long-term vision, despite other offers. With an experienced and ambitious team, Williams could challenge Mercedes and Aston Martin for points.

7. Haas – Oliver Bearman (UK) & Esteban Ocon (FRA)

Oliver Bearman impressed in his F1 debut for Ferrari in 2024, scoring points in his first race. His teammate, Esteban Ocon, has podium experience and has proven he can battle with the best. The big question is whether Haas can deliver a competitive car.

8. RB – Yuki Tsunoda (JP) & Isack Hadjar (FRA)

This will be Yuki Tsunoda’s fifth season with RB, and likely his last chance to prove he deserves a Red Bull seat. Meanwhile, Isack Hadjar, the 2024 F2 runner-up, becomes the 19th Red Bull junior to reach F1. He will be looking to make an impact in his debut season.

9. Alpine – Pierre Gasly (FRA) & Jack Doohan (AUS)

Alpine enters 2025 with Pierre Gasly signed to a multi-year extension and Jack Doohan promoted from his reserve role. With a new Team Principal, Oliver Oakes, the team will be one to watch as they rebuild.

10. Kick Sauber – Nico Hulkenberg (DE) & Gabriel Bortoleto (BR)

Kick Sauber has completely overhauled its driver lineup, likely shifting focus to 2026, when Audi takes full control. The 2025 season may be a transition year, but Bortoleto will aim to make an impression in his rookie season.
